we waited all december for snow – who would have thought that we’d be anxious and nervous that there WOULDN’T be snow in december!? eventually it did and off to the skating oval we went.

fall is a beautiful time of year.
especially when you have a kid as cute as this one.

but you’d never know it by the photos. the forecast was awful and it stormed like no one’s business the night before chris + kirbie’s big day. kirbie and i texted, brainstorming some alternatives for the next afternoon – their entire day was centered around being outside, at one of the local lakes. i really had no back-up plan but, hey, fake it ’til you make it right? lucky for me (and the wedding party and guests), it all cleared up and we had sun the whole time.
my favorite thing about this wedding? i mean, besides the fact that this group of friends had a blast the whole day and i never really knew what they would do next? the bride’s toms shoes. yup. you know it’s gonna be a good wedding when the bride picks toms for her big day!

a few years ago, brad and i were planning our wedding. we followed the typical steps: ask your closest friends to stand in front of a bunch of people with you on the big day, invite a bunch of people to big day, rent/buy necessary attire, decor and floral extras, etc. and then the usual – make your friends pay for an evening or longer all the while celebrating the ‘last’ day of being single. i had spent the weekend moving most of my stuff into what would become ‘our’ home and was still organizing when brad returned from his all-expense paid mini-trip. nothing was said about the trip… except that connor kept texting this girl in bc the whole time and brad was pretty sure that this meant something, because ‘dudes don’t text girls while they’re out with other dudes’ or something like that… it was a stretch in my opinion.
fast forward to this summer. connor and ‘that bc girl’ (marina) ended up proving brad right. i guess ‘dudes texting girls while out with other dudes’ means something serious in their circle of friends because they got married. and it was nothing short of one of the most beautifully put together weddings i’ve been to – complete with what appeared to be a million hankies tied together at the ceremony.
here’s a very small portion of my favorite photos from connor and marina’s day…

Karla these pictures are amazing!!! Brings back good memories of a perfect day!!:)
gorgeous karla! your work is awesome, and it looks like it was a beautiful day! i love the way you started the post too
it was a very early morning drive to dean and tasha’s wedding – and i’m the first to admit i am NOT a morning person. i stopped at tim hortons for a bagel b.e.l.t. for some sustenance on the way up and it turns out when you ask specifically for the veggies on your breakfast sandwich at the till (no drive-thru for this girl. it looked too long and i was impatient), there’s a really good chance you’re not gonna get it. lesson learned. at least my americano was excellent that morning.
aside from an unfortunate breakfast situation, the day was fantastic. it was stinkin’ hot, but it was fantastic. and to say i’m loving these frames might be understating it a bit.
side note: if you’re in the market for a CAT tractor or combine, the groom could hook you up. he had a claas (CAT for those that don’t know or care about the difference) combine parked outside their reception hall and i think brad was more than a little sad he didn’t get something like that at ours. (and yes, he did try to find a way to get his tractor into our reception hall) turns out you have a bit more pull when you actually sell the equipment…

there’s something that fascinates me about the cake-cutting process at weddings – particularly the spectators and the groups that form.
