meet my son – hudson levi

born on january 24 at 2:21am, he was 22 inches long, and 7lbs 2 oz. a skinny little thing, resembling his father with his frame, but he has red hair and apparently looks a lot like what my brothers and i did as babies. this little boy is going to give me sooooo much grief when he grows up – there’s more than a little bit of stubbornness being passed down to him from both sides – and even knowing that, i can’t wait to see him grow up. i can wait a little bit… no sense in rushing something that happens so quickly as it is! he’s changed a lot already since i took these photos – i still have more waiting to be edited but it takes me a bit longer to do that these days:)

(side note: we took very little hospital photos. why? well, originally it was because things started to not go as planned and so we were a little preoccupied with making sure our son arrived healthy instead of taking photos. and then i think we got distracted with how cute he was/is and just took photos with our phones. even though we had perfectly good ‘normal’ cameras at our disposal the whole time)

and yes, this is the reason i’m incredibly awful at being prompt with email responses. my apologies. i am taking full advantage of maternity leave and spending as much of it with my boy!

it poured. and poured. and poured

but you’d never know it by the photos. the forecast was awful and it stormed like no one’s business the night before chris + kirbie’s big day. kirbie and i texted, brainstorming some alternatives for the next afternoon – their entire day was centered around being outside, at one of the local lakes. i really had no back-up plan but, hey, fake it ’til you make it right? lucky for me (and the wedding party and guests), it all cleared up and we had sun the whole time.

my favorite thing about this wedding? i mean, besides the fact that this group of friends had a blast the whole day and i never really knew what they would do next? the bride’s toms shoes. yup. you know it’s gonna be a good wedding when the bride picks toms for her big day!

a million hankies

a few years ago, brad and i were planning our wedding. we followed the typical steps: ask your closest friends to stand in front of a bunch of people with you on the big day, invite a bunch of people to big day, rent/buy necessary attire, decor and floral extras, etc. and then the usual – make your friends pay for an evening or longer all the while celebrating the ‘last’ day of being single. i had spent the weekend moving most of my stuff into what would become ‘our’ home and was still organizing when brad returned from his all-expense paid mini-trip. nothing was said about the trip… except that connor kept texting this girl in bc the whole time and brad was pretty sure that this meant something, because ‘dudes don’t text girls while they’re out with other dudes’ or something like that… it was a stretch in my opinion.

fast forward to this summer. connor and ‘that bc girl’ (marina) ended up proving brad right. i guess ‘dudes texting girls while out with other dudes’ means something serious in their circle of friends because they got married. and it was nothing short of one of the most beautifully put together weddings i’ve been to – complete with what appeared to be a million hankies tied together at the ceremony.

here’s a very small portion of my favorite photos from connor and marina’s day…
